Which website option fits your business?
Choose based on the work you need done, the time you can put in, and what you want to own when it is finished.
This guide is written by M3MM, one of the options below. The fit assessments are our perspective, not an independent ranking.
Start with the job
A business owner updating a few pages needs something different from a contractor separating several service lines or a team running an ongoing marketing program.
- Want hands-on editing? Consider a hosted builder and budget your own time for setup.
- Have a precise, small brief? Compare freelancers on the same deliverables.
- Want a custom site with one engineer? Review M3MM’s scope and examples.
- Need several disciplines over time? Ask agencies for a proposal with named responsibilities.
Four ways to get it built
Build it yourself with Wix
- When it fits
- You want to edit pages yourself and can spend time on content, layout and setup.
- What to budget
- Compare the current plan, renewal price, domain and paid apps. Include the time you will spend building it.
- Who does the work
- You choose the template, write the copy and test the contact path. Confirm the features your chosen plan includes.
- What you keep
- Wix sites run on Wix hosting. Owning your content or domain does not make the site portable to a different host.
Hire a freelancer through Fiverr
- When it fits
- You have a clear brief and want to compare individual specialists for a bounded job.
- What to budget
- Compare the actual offer: pages, revisions, content, hosting, source files and support. A headline package price may cover a different scope.
- Who does the work
- Ask who writes the copy, supplies licensed assets, checks mobile layouts and fixes problems after delivery.
- What you keep
- Fiverr describes a default transfer of rights for delivered work, subject to its terms and offer exceptions. Confirm source files and account access in the offer.
Work directly with M3MM
- When it fits
- You want a custom business site and a direct working relationship with the engineer building it.
- What to budget
- Basic site or cleanup: $500. Bounded business-site package: $1,000–$2,000. Larger custom work is quoted after scoping.
- Who does the work
- Agree on the scope, content, contact path and launch requirements before work starts. View the project examples before deciding.
- What you keep
- You own the delivered code. Confirm hosting, domain access, any third-party licenses and future changes in the project scope.
Hire a full-service agency
- When it fits
- Your brief needs several disciplines, stakeholders or an ongoing marketing program.
- What to budget
- Request an itemized proposal. Separate the build fee from recurring content, ads, hosting and support.
- Who does the work
- Ask who is doing each part of the work, how approvals happen and what the launch acceptance checks include.
- What you keep
- Ownership, portability and ongoing commitments depend on the agreement and technology. Ask for the exit and handover process before signing.

Compare the same scope
Send each provider the same page list, contact requirements, content inventory and desired launch window. Ask these questions before comparing the totals:
- Who supplies copy, photos and any required licenses?
- Which pages, forms, integrations and revisions are included?
- How will mobile layouts, accessibility and form delivery be checked?
- Which charges recur, and what happens if you stop paying for support?
- Who controls the domain, hosting and source files at handover?
For M3MM’s basic and bounded business-site packages, work starts after 20% down. The down payment is non-refundable; other payments are refundable before launch. Premium work sets its terms in the scoped agreement.
Use your current site as the starting point
If you already have a website, it may need a focused repair rather than a rebuild. Bring the URL and the problem you want it to solve.
